Composition

This course is designed for advanced students who have successfully completed the Drawing Program.

Understanding the fundamentals of composition on a two-dimensional surface is essential knowledge for any artist, as it enhances their ability to effectively build interesting layouts for their drawings and paintings. Students will develop an understanding of theoretical composition through practice with specific examples of famous compositions throughout art history but also by experimentation and discussions between the instructors and the students.

Students will employ both constructive and spontaneous approaches, drawing inspiration from live references, models, imagination, and observations from abstract and concrete perspectives. Students will also be encouraged to think outside the box in their creative process, unlocking each individual's unique artistic potential.
