Digital Art & Design

The Digital Art & Design programme combines the rigorous approach of our traditional programme with current and emerging digital tools. We are oriented toward imaginative realism and the skills we teach are applicable to many careers in the visual arts, particularly fine art, illustration and conceptual art. The full-time programme consists of 6 to 8 hours of supervised study per day, from Monday to Friday.
Aims
Motivated students who complete the programme can look forward to transitioning to a successful career as a visual artist.
- They obtain an integral understanding of the human form.
- They learn professional methods to develop ideas and create images.
- They develop the ability to give life to images by combining imagination with natural observation in a unique way.
Methodology
In the intensive Digital | Drawing programme, each student works through the exercises at their own pace and gradually progresses through the course programme, with the difficulty gradually increasing. Our primary goal is to prepare students for a successful career as a visual artist.
The programme has three elements:
- The design class.
- The human figure class.
- Seminars
We work with a methodology focused on ensuring that the student is absorbing the concepts at each stage of their learning in order to correct, modify or optimise all the aspects suggested by the tutor.
Every day the students meet their teacher, who offers individual feedback. At the end of each term, the students receive a individual, personalised final evaluation in which all their teachers are present, where the following aspects are reviewed and taken into account:
- Attendance
- Performance
- Effort
- Attitude
- Progress
The student receives a mark for each area along with suggestions on what to focus on during the next term.
The time that each student spends on each exercise, and consequently on finishing a course, is totally personal, and can differ from that of other students. On average, the Digital Art and Design programme takes two and a half years to complete. The actual duration varies with each student. The main factors are the time and energy available during the course, as well as the student's previous level of experience.
To complete the programme, a student must pass all of its constituent subjects, including seminars. The minimum enrolment period is one term [3 months / 11 weeks]. Students may enrol at the beginning of each term. [Check Calendar]
Present to a greater or lesser extent in all the courses taught at the academy, drawing is the backbone of the Barcelona Academy of Art's teaching process. In order to produce high quality work, we consider it essential to have a good mastery of drawing. Without a solid base in drawing, most of the difficulties that arise throughout the artistic career are very complicated to solve.
The Digital Art and Design programme consists of the following subjects:
- The Still Life Course
- The Design course
- The Digital Human Figure Course
- Seminars

Once the online form has been submitted and the student has been accepted, they will be asked to confirm their place by paying the non-refundable deposit. The non-refundable deposit corresponds to 10% of the total amount of the course enrolled by the student. The rest of the registration fee must be paid by the dates specified via email when confirming the place at the rate of one payment per registered term, and always in advance. If the non-refundable deposit is not paid, the place will remain automatically available for another student.
Students may request refunds (except the non-refundable deposit amount) which will be determined in accordance with the school's internal policy. Any change to be applied after the student's place has been confirmed will require the payment of an administrative fee.
As a general rule, refunds are not permitted other than in cases of extreme seriousness or emergency. In such cases, the student may be required to present the necessary documentation to prove that the circumstances are true. The Management Committee will evaluate each situation and the Administration Department will communicate the final decision to the student. This decision shall be final and not appealable.
