About Mario.

Mario Castillo is an artist and academic, possessing a strong foundation in Fine Arts and a deep engagement with contemporary thought and philosophy.

Having earned his degree in Fine Arts from the University of Granada in 2015, he furthered his studies at the Barcelona Academy of Art, graduating in Drawing and Sculpture in 2018. He also obtained his Master’s degree in Contemporary Thought and Classical Tradition from the University of Barcelona, specializing in Contemporary Thought between 2022 and 2023.

 
Mario has taught at Ramon Llull University in Barcelona from 2016 to 2019, and is currently a professor in the Sculpture Program at the Barcelona Academy of Art.
 
During his academic journey, he has earned scholarships, such as the Ícaro Scholarship from the University of Granada in 2015 and the General Scholarship from the Ministry of Education for postgraduate studies between 2022 and 2023. Additionally, Mario has made significant contributions to the academic field through his research, notably with the publication of his work “Walter Benjamin and Disruptive Writing: On the Critical Condition of Philosophy and Art in Late Capitalism” at the University of Barcelona in 2023.

About Joel Llopis.

Joel Llopis is a sculptor from Menorca (Spain).

 
I was born in Menorca and moved to Barcelona to advance my education in sculpture. Over the years, I have refined my artistic style, emphasizing the tactile connection with materials and expressing emotions through my work. My inspiration draws from the sea, wind, salt, and nostalgia, creating sculptures that blend beauty with the wear of time.

 
I have worked as a sculptor and I’m currently an instructor at the Barcelona Academy of Art and La Salle. I graduated in Industrial Modeling from l’Escola Llotja and participated in many workshops with notable artists such as Eudald de Juana and Grzegorz Gwiazda. I’ve exhibited in various galleries across Europe and my projects include commissions for the Lucrecia Awards trophy, the movie Gladiator II and sculptures for hotels and private collectors.
 

About Angèlica.

Angèlica Arvylàs is an artist born in Barcelona in 1985, with a Greek father and a Catalan mother.

 
At the age of 19, she entered the Municipal School of Fine Arts in Salt (Girona), where she sculpted her first works in stone. With the conviction that she had found her vocation, she quickly turned her passion into a professional career. Her work and dedication led her to her first monumental commission at the age of 20, “Alba i Crepúscle,” an imposing sculptural work with a diameter of 7 meters and a height of 2 meters, made of stone and bronze, located in the town of Lloret de Mar (Girona).

 
She completed her Degree in Sculpture at the Escola d’Art d’Olot, while continuing to refine her skills in stone carving. However, the desire to explore new horizons took her to Italy, where she immersed herself in the sculpture program at the Florence Academy of Art. During her stay, her passion for human anatomy led her to deepen her studies through the “Ecorché” course, gaining an even deeper understanding of the human form in all its complexities.

 
Upon returning to Spain, she taught anatomy and sculpture classes at Universitat Ramón Llull, la Salle, in Barcelona for several years. Later, she began teaching and became a part of the sculpture program at the Barcelona Academy of Art as one of the main instructors. Angélica is also skilled in the art of casting and foundry, adding another dimension to her creativity and artistic expression. Her constant source of inspiration has been and continues to be nature in its fullest expression. Attentive observation of the forms, rhythms, and architecture of nature leads her to explore the intricate and expressive human anatomy, which she considers a reflection of the same laws that govern the natural world.

 
She has been a finalist in prestigious national and international art competitions, including the renowned ARC Salon in the USA and the Figurativas competition in Barcelona. Her sculptures have been exhibited in galleries and exhibition spaces throughout Europe and England, as well as in museums like the MEAM in Barcelona. Her work is part of various private collections in different countries in Europe, America, and Asia, as well as in public spaces.

About Silvia.

Silvia Juez Linares was born in Barcelona, where she showed a great interest in art from a very young age, especially painting.

At the age of 19, she was admitted to the Faculty of Fine Art in Barcelona, where she discovered the art of sculpture. There, she experimented with its various techniques and materials. During these studies, she discovered the human form’s power to express the world around it. For this reason, when she finished, she decided to study at the Florence Academy of Art, where she learnt the skills necessary to draw and model, interpreting reality as faithfully as possible. There, she received three scholarships as a studio assistant and won another from the International ARC Salon Competition (Art Renewal Center).

During her stay in Florence, she taught drawing and sculpture at The Italian Chinese Art & Culture Exchange Association.

In recent years, she was a finalist in the competition “Figurativas 2015” (MEAM), had an Honorable Mention in the 12th International ARC Salon Competition, was a finalist in the 13th International ARC Salon Competition and also a finalist in the 53 Reina Sofia (Queen Sofia) prize for painting and sculpture. Her work can be found in various public and private collections in Spain and Italy.

She currently runs the Drawing | Sculpture programme at the Barcelona Academy of Art.
