BAA Scholarships

The Barcelona Academy of Art offers more than 60,000€ in personal grants each year for students who meet the requirements of the Academy’s Board of Directors to qualify for financial gain.

The aid is neither a discount on the total cost of the course or a discount on the cost of accommodation:

EVALUATION SYSTEM

Students will be assessed according to their financial need, level of commitment to their studies, overall performance, attitude, and willingness to contribute in a positive way to the community of the Barcelona Academy of Art.

Priority will be given to:
— Returning students with excellent academic records.
— Returning students with good academic records who didn’t receive a scholarship in the previous year.
— Students enrolled on a 9-month intensive course.

PARTICIPATION

At the end of each academic year, the Barcelona Academy of Art will send the scholarship application form to all students enrolled in a regular full-time course who have confirmed their place by paying the non-refundable deposit.

Scholarships will be awarded to the selected students before the start of each academic term.

MANAGEMENT TEAM DECISION

The management committee of the Barcelona Academy of Art will meet to assess the applications and designate the commitments of the students who will receive financial aid. The Administration Department will contact the student to inform them of the decision.

Criteria and conditions

Scholarships are valid only during the designated period, and students must reapply in subsequent academic terms/years.
We do not offer full scholarships. Applicants should therefore ensure that they have reliable access to other financial means to cover their finances.
Our aid is meant as a contribution to course expenses. We do not cover transport costs or overseas debts. We do not contribute to the expenses of dependent family members (spouses, partners, children), course materials or living expenses.

Coming soon: Young Figurative Artist Competition – MEAM/BAA

The Barcelona Academy of Art and the European Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona are launching their first scholarship competition for promising young artists seeking to learn academic techniques for drawing, painting or sculpture and to provide them with the necessary tools to enter the contemporary art scene.

Scholarships will be awarded to young artists from all over the world to study in one of the Academy’s intensive programs for one year. With the help of its sponsors, the BAA will also award the finalists who have scholarships with financial assistance for housing and other costs. The prize-giving ceremony will be accompanied by an exhibition of the works of those who were selected by the MEAM.

With this effort, the BAA and the MEAM are continuing their commitment to stimulating artistic creation, making the current practices in the figurative art visible and, above all, discovering, recognising and giving long-term support to a future generation of artists.
